Observations of a somewhat dull, methodical victory for the Terps
My first thoughts post game were how do we get through the maze of the next 3 games. Georgia Tech has been scoring at an incredible pace, Clemson destroyed the Hokies on the road and FSU is well FSU.
Davin Meggett stood out for me for the offense today–seeming to run at will even absorbing some brutal hits.
Joe Vellano had an excellent game chasing down several of the Tigers.
While Danny was OK –his criticism is way too harsh. He is still only a sophomore and losing his 2 wideouts for 2 games kind of got him off rhythm. Danny finished 14-21 with 1 TD and no pics.
4 Home games for the Terps–4 miserable weather days–incredible. Ten degrees lower today and we would have seen some snow. On October 1–what?
53000, 54000, 38000, and 35000 —45,000 per –improvement over last year
The Ralph Friedgen story was much discussed throughout the Press Box and the stadium. I still am troubled by the “Burn my diploma” part of it. Why would he say that?
The Terps are fortunate that the Towson receiver let the 40 yard pass slide through his fingers. Also, Towson absolutely botched the final drive throwing a meaningless completion with 12 seconds left and no timeouts. 4 turnovers and horrendous field position did the Tigers in.
So here’s the bottom line—the Terps are 2-2 with a third of the season gone. We will know much more about this 2012 squad after the next 3 games
One note of hope for next week–Georgia Tech gave up 35 points to NC State yesterday.

crowd yesterday was 35,000 and every season ticket holder received an extra free ticket. towson was pretty impressive. they beat themselves. maryland did not play a good game at all. maryland had few very good plays. maryland’s depth and size wore towson down. the game was much much closer that the final score indicated. for the mos tpart towson outplayed and out coached maryland.
