Maryland’s Joe Vellano was honored Monday by the Atlantic Coast Conference for his play in Saturday’s 21-16 loss at No. 13 Georgia Tech. Vellano was all over the field against the triple-option attack of the Yellow Jackets, who were held well below their season averages in points (21 – GT averaged 51.6 ppg), rushing (272 – GT averaged 378.2 pg) and total offense (386 – GT averaged 587 pg).

I am not pointing this out, or asking this question because of the losses that are starting to mount up for the Terps.
I want to point out that Edsall might be a great coach on the field. Although, Obrien was the ACC Rookie of the Year, and supposedly they were designing the offense around him. Well, he is terrible so far, and I don’t think we can say it’s entirely on him. Obviously, the system was not designed very well to his strength’s that made him spectacular last year.
I disliked this hire, because when you look to find a diamond in the rough coach, that built a small fcs school up, you have to choose based on certain characteristics.
Do they have a creative and imaginative mind that made their offense or defense amazing? etc, You do NOT choose based on how they ran the program.
Edsall’s militaristic style might do well with a small school, with no name recruits that are happy to be playing college ball. It get’s the most out of those types of kids.WORST possible style for a major program, like MD. These kids have already quit. When stud recruits have the choice of going to FL, LSU, Aub, USC, OSU, and on and on, compared to MD, and it gets spread around that the coach an out of touch, super disciplinarian, with no attention to the individual, NO WAY are they picking MD. Meyer, Saban could do it. They have history. Bottom Line. BAD hire. 6 year contract.
MD has more NFL players than any other team in the ACC aside from Miami, by FAR.
Kenny Tate is a 1st round pick, and getting benched by saying he can’t wait for the season to be over.
That word is already spreading through the state, as we are hearing now that a few recruits that he has gotten (the same type of average recruit that we always get mind you), are asking to open up their recruitments.
This is a major program. It is a HUGE ACC school with a national championship history.
This isn’t Rudy, or some BS school where kids are just want to go to get yelled at, and not have their names on the jersey, get any attention, where ear rings, or any of the other just stupid stuff.
WIN. You will NEVER win without talent, and when EVER SINGLE NFL WR has ear rings and tattoos, the kids that emulate them are NOT going to go to school where they can’t be themselves, and are like toy soldiers.
If I’m Anderson, I correct my mistake sooner rather than later.
At least Ralph got SOME decent recruits that we could watch in the NFL.
