Jake Pace scored two second half goals in just 48 seconds to guide the No. 3 Maryland men’s soccer team past Adelphi, 2-0, on Tuesday night at Ludwig Field. The Terrapin defense held the Panthers to zero shots in the second half as freshman goalkeeper Keith Cardona earned his first career victory between the pipes.
Maryland (12-1-1) had possession for much of the first half, but was unable to connect in the final third. In search of offensive firepower, head coach Sasho Cirovski subbed in Pace in the latter part of the half. Pace immediately delivered for Cirovski, nearly missing on a rocket shot off the crossbar in the 41st minute that careened back into play.
