Some thoughts on what is beginning to feel like a lonnnnng season.
My fears about this rang true. FSU had a week to prepare for CJ and furthermore had the speed to make CJ look average. Thus the offense in the first half was non-existent. Would Edsall have inserted Danny into the lineup without the injury to CJ–maybe.
Danny came in and tried to inject some life into the team immediately. He finished 9-18 for 180 yards with a TD pass and a TD run.
Any of the schemes that included running to the outside never worked. FSU was just too fast for it.
Quintin McCree had a super game with 8 catches for 170 yards.
Coach Edsall commented post game:”The thing is – the kids are working and again I think what we have to do is we just have to continue to get better. That’s all we have to do. We have got to coach them better, the kids have to do their part and that’s what we are going to continue to do. We are just going to continue to keep getting better. There are some very positive things out there. We are just not doing enough positive things. We just don’t match up with the speed and athleticism of Clemson and Florida State. That’s what we are going to have to do from a recruiting standpoint.”
Another slow start as the Terps trailed 14-0 after just 6 minutes.
Special teams again were disappointing as both phases of the kickoff game failed to produce strong results.
The return of EJ Manuel makes this Seminole team certainly in the ranks of Clemson. Georgia Tech lost to the U today 24-7
So the controversy begins again Danny or CJ? But now the Terps are in desperation mode. 5 games left –they need to win 4 to be bowl eligible.

maryland was never really in the game. always a couple of big plays away from being in contention. danny’s stats are not as good as they look. the last drive fl st was just waiting the for clock to run out. i don’t think unitas in his prime would have helped much yesterday. fl st. too talented too big too fast for terps. bowl game is a real longshot. question is what type of crowds will show up at byrd the rest of the way.
