Ouch—Northwestern just beat the Blue Devils 12-5. It is early in the year but Coach Reese must begin to develop an answer for the stalling type game that was the Terps ruination today and in last year’s championship game.
Sophomore Beth Glaros scored a game-high four goals but the No. 2 Maryland women’s lacrosse team fell short at No. 2 Duke 10-9 Saturday.
The Terps (3-1, 0-1 ACC) picked up goals from freshman Kelly McPartland (3), and Tewaaraton Watch List nominees Karri Ellen Johnson (1) and Katie Schwarzmann (1). Reigning ACC Defensive Player of the Week Iliana Sanza and Johnson combined for six of Maryland’s 12 draw controls.
Maryland erased an early five-goal deficit with seven unanswered goals, including five to tie the game heading into halftime. Following a pair of Glaros’ goals to kick off the second half, Duke (4-2, 1-0 ACC) answered with a 5-0 run including two free position goals from Taylor Trimble.
