Maryland’s offense produced a season-high 15 hits, David Carroll matched a career high with eight strikeouts in seven innings, and the Terps toppled Purdue 11-1 Saturday evening.
Maryland (4-1), which beat Western Carolina 3-0 behind Brady Kirkpatrick Saturday morning, clinched a second consecutive series win. It’s the first time the Terps have won back-to-back series since 2007, when they won the first five series of the season. They’ll go for a weekend sweep against host East Carolina Sunday at 2 p.m.
A trio of sophomores led Maryland offensively. Second baseman Kyle Convissar went 4-for-5 with three RBIs, first baseman Tim Kiene went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and center fielderCharlie White went 3-for-4 with two runs.
