Without question it was the best the Terps looked all season. But we have to realize it was against a very weak Wake Forest team. Nonetheless the Terps performed like a good team should when playing an inferior opponent. Quick analysis;

Coach Turgeon commented post game :”That’s the best, most complete game we’ve played all year. We defended. We rebounded. We executed. We shared the ball, 18 assists, (shot) 54 percent for the game with 57 percent in the second half. We were really good against the zone I thought, especially early in the game and then in different periods, and then at the start of the second half, got them out of it. We dialed in. I thought we were on top of their sets and doing a good job
Game 1 is history so how do we beat the Tar Heels. I have no clue but my best guess is find a way to shut Tyler Zeller down probably by double teaming him every time he gets the ball. Fouling him a lot doesn’t work. One man probably Len must be assigned to keep him off the offensive boards no matter what. Here’s the problem any team can slow down one guy but what do you do about Henson, Barnes, McAdoo and Marshall. Carolina is an impossible matchup not just for Maryland but for any team in the country including Kentucky. Syracuse with its gimmicky zone could confound NC, Kentucky with its athleticism could out run NC but I am afraid it might take some Tebow factors for the Terps to win tomorrow. Next year, another story. Payback will be hell for Carolina and Duke and I am counting the days. But Friday it will take a barrel of threes and just sloppy Carolina play for the Terps to have a chance.
