Hats off to Jimmy Patsos and the Loyola Greyhounds. The NCAA committee did them no favor by seeding them 15 and sending them to Pittsburgh to face Ohio State. However I lie the Loyola squad after having attended 5 of their home games. Jimmy has this team playing unselfishly and he is able to go 9 deep. The Buckeyes are already looking at the round of 32 game on their website. Thursday night at 10 PM I will be riveted to my screen watching RJ Williams (St Frances), Shane Walker, Dylon Cormier (Cardinal Gibbons), Jordan Latham (City College), sharpshooter Robert Olsen(Georgetown Prep) and the rest of the squad.
Doesn’t it make you sick that Duke and Carolina get to play their first 2 rounds in the great neutral site in Greensboro.
Many on the Carolina blog boards are blaming Maryland for costing the Tar Heels the ACC Title referring to the injury to John Henson. Believe me Henson could have played but Roy could care less about the ACC Tourney. He knew he had a #1 seed locked up and just wanted to preserve Henson. Maybe next time Henson won’t make a cheap uncontested hoop on a team down by 20 at home with the clock running out.
Carolina will win the NCAA Championship provided Henson can play. They are just too deep with talent. Kentucky only plays six and with 3 freshmen and 2 sophomores among these six, these guys will miss Rupp Arena and succumb to the mistake filled coaching of Coach Cal (see Memphis).
Winning 20 games doesn’t mean much any more because there are 25 NIT team with 20 or more in the win column.
Butler’s run is over for the time being as it landed in the CIT. We won’t have to hear how brilliant Brad Stevens is for another year.
