#4 Terps Cruise Past Sony Brook 21-7

Alex Aust scored a career-high five goals, including four in the second half, to lead No. 4 Maryland to a 21-7 win against Stony Brook Tuesday at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.

Aust led a dominant and inclusive Terrapin offense that boasted goals from nine different players. Katie Schwarzmann and Brooke Griffin added four and three goals, respectively. Of Maryland’s 21 goals on the day, 10 were assisted. Karri Ellen Johnson paced Maryland (8-2, 2-1 ACC) with three assists.

Senior attacker Karri Ellen Johnson was named Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week Tuesday. Johnson, of Annapolis, Md., accumulated six goals, eight draw controls and an assist in Maryland’s two victories on the week. With a pair of goals against Richmond on Tuesday, Johnson became only the third player in Maryland women’s lacrosse history to record 200 career goals.
