Comments on a sound beatdown from the Irish:
Like every terrapin fan I am very disappointed in the loss last night. However, this one game cannot diminish a fantastic 31-5 season for Maryland and head coach Brenda Frese . Alyssa was named to the 1st Team All America Team. And what the heck 31-5 is more then respectable. Perhaps we truly are the 5th best team in the country. That’s only something to be proud of. I WILL NEVER BE DISAPPOINTED WITH A 31-5 RECORD, AN ELITE 8 APPEARANCE , AND AN ACC CHAMPIONSHIP!!!
Game after game, the Terps spotted teams big leads and virtually always came back to win. But tonight you had to sense this was different. Skylar Diggins was miraculous as she continually broke down the defense of the Terps.
Maryland grad Pam Ward went overboard when she said the Terps looked like a 6th grade team. Rebecca Lobo must have said 20 times the Terps have to go into a zone. When they did, the Irish crushed it. In truth we were thoroughly outplayed by the best team we faced all year. I for one believe we need to toughen up the schedule even if it causes a few more losses. UConn is on the schedule next year, and perhaps we should try to schedule Stanford, Baylor , or Notre Dame. Clearly these teams were better then the best the ACC had to offer. But remember Alyssa, Laurin Mincy, Alicia DeVaughan and most of the team returns next season.

Alyssa Thomas scored 17 points and Tianna Hawkins and Alicia DeVaughnadded 10 apiece for Maryland, but the Terrapins fell to top-seeded Notre Dame 80-49 Tuesday night in the Regional Final of the Raleigh Region.
After rallying from 18 points to beat reigning national champion Texas A&M two days earlier in the regional semifinal, the Terps (31-5) finally slipped into a deficit they couldn’t escape. The loss ended the careers of seniors Anjale Barrett, Lynetta Kizer and Kim Rodgers.
“Obviously tonight was Notre Dame’s night, I thought they were spectacular,” head coachBrenda Frese said. “They really did a tremendous job on all ends of the floor. A difficult night obviously for us getting into any kind of rhythm, I thought we looked really tired and I think a lot of that was having to come back in the Texas A&M game from being down 18. I felt like our energy and effort was spent in the game before.”
“I told the team in the locker that I appreciate the journey and the ride that we got to spend this season. I couldn’t have asked for a better team in terms of how committed everyone was this season, our seniors leave with two elite eight finishes and two ACC Championships.

bottom line the terps were outplayed and out coached by the irish. they were in the game for about the first 5 min and after that…no factor…40 min away from a final 4 and to get blown out…give n.d. credit. they made md look like a jv team last night. overall a very good year for the lady terps.

freddy is correct;they definitly got out coached.Its a troubling sign when you continue to fall behing by double digits.That shouldnt happen in the first place.And you are not going to come back on really good teams.Teams swarm Thomas,make her give up the ball and the other players do not step up.Mincy was non existent against N.D.Again it is coaching.The girls looked confused the last 2 tournament games.And the interior defense sucks.All coaching maladies.They coaches do not make necessary adjustments and it shows on the hesitant stumbling offense.Lady for lady the terps have as much talent as any team left.They just dont have the game plan.
