Calipari Searches For a Way to Lose the Title Game But Fails—Kentucky Holds on Barely

Anthony Davis saved John Calipari last night. The Cats outmanned Kansas so bad it was laughable. Yet Coach Cal basically put the ball into the deep freeze after a 14 point half time lead. Only the incredible play of the future first pick in the NBA draft saved him. Bobby Knight said on the Mike and Mike show monday that Davis might be the next Bill Russell. He certainly was Monday night. 16 rebounds, 6 blocks, and probably 12 alterations of inside shots. By the way according to nbadraft.net here is the predicted draft order of Davis’ teammates:

Kidd-Gilchrist #2

Terrence Jones #18

Doron Lamb #23

Marquis Teague #28

Darrius Miller #35

Please don’t tell me how well Calipari assembled this talent. This team won in spite of him!!

if you watched this game objectively you saw kansas played great defense in the second half. ky had 2 fast break opportunities in the second half. ky shot 7 for 27 from the field and missed several free throws. they also had 6 turnovers. pretty sure coach cal didn’t miss any shots in this game. davis who shot 1-10 in the game made his only basket with a little under 6 min to go in the game. i don’t think kidd gilchrist scored in the second half. teague scored his only basket of the second half with a little under 3 min to go in the game. so give credit to kansas, who by the way is a really good team. ya think ky was going to win by 20? please. coach cal did a great job. he took 7 guys who all averaged at elast 25 pts a game in h.s. and got them to play as unselfish as a team could play. you may not like him because of what happend at umass and memphis, and most fans don’t like him but he did something few coaches could do at ky. he recruited superstars who all bought into the team concept. just think of md and stoglin, one player and not a superstar and all the criticism turg had for him about his play compared to caliperi and his group of superstars.

    I totally agree Freddy.
Also recruiting remains the distinction in big time college ball and Cali remains the best.
Also Roy Williams distinguishes himself once again, as the coach that gets the least out of the best !

You have a 14 point half time lead with vastly superior talent—why slow the game down from the first possession? Because Calipari was scared. Pathetic coaching job!!!! As a recruiter he is the best –as a Coach he remains pathetic.
