Leading Off…
• After splitting a pair of mid-week games, Maryland continues its 10-game homestand as No. 17 NC State comes to town. The Terps are in the midst of a stretch that will see them play 14 of 15 games at home, with the lone road game being a trip north to Towson on April 18. Maryland has a 10-3 record at Bob “Turtle” Smith Stadium this year.
• Maryland will mix up its rotation this weekend after sticking to a pretty consistent formula the first seven weeks of the season. Brett Harman, who was the Friday-night starter in much of 2010, will reprise that role. Jimmy Reed will make the first start of his career after spending the first two and a half seasons pitching in relief. The lefty has been lights out this year, accumulating a 0.48 ERA in 13 appearances spanning 18 2/3 innings. A junior, Reed has 22 strikeouts to three walks and is holding opponents to a .161 batting average. David Carroll, coming off a win at Boston College in which he struck out seven in eight innings, will start on Sunday.
