Terps Ease Past Navy 13-6 Behind Joe Cummings

Senior Joe Cummings had a hat trick and two assists to lead the No. 12 Maryland men’s lacrosse team to a 13-6 victory over in-state rival Navy in front of 5,022 at Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium Friday evening.

Maryland improves to 6-3 on the year, while Navy falls to 5-5.

The Terps started off the scoring at 10:42 in the first quarter, with junior Landon Carr scoring an unassisted transition goal inside the left pipe. Sophomore Brian Cooper started the play, causing a turnover by Navy’s Nikk Davis. Sophomore Michael Ehrhardt fought through a scrum to pick up the tough groundball before moving it quickly to Carr near midfield.
