Sam Cassell Jr Looking at University of South Florida—What?

Are you kidding me? I don’t get it. To be part of the future at Maryland or play in obscurity in at USF. No brainer. Sorry, someone explain this to me.

I am a Maryland alum (undergrad) and USF alum (graduate). If you were talking about the USF basketball of old, I’d totally be in agreement. USF is up & coming for basketball (MD definitely is too) as seen this year. They just built a new basketball complex and are re-doing the Sun Dome. They are an Under Armour school, play in the Big East, and have year-long great weather (that’s my particular selling point). Knowing both rosters fairly well, SC would have more playing minutes available to him and that’s probably the main reason for considering USF.

could be grades…could be playing time…sam knows he wouldn’t start this year at md…and it’s not like md is a basketball power at this time. potentially a good recruiting class coming in, but that remains to be seen.

I think it came down to his Dad, who went to Florida State and his Dad did not want him committing to Maryland until he sees the other schools on his final list USF was one of then. Go Terps!
