Post saturday Scrimmage Blog From Football SID Shawn Nestor
The Terps held their first full scrimmage of the spring Saturday morning at Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium.
The team ran about 100 plays during the scrimmage with game officials in attendance.  “We got a lot of good work in today,” head coach Randy Edsall said after the scrimmage. “I was pleased with the effort and intensity. It wasn’t real sloppy today. There were some good things, but also some things we’ve got to get better at.”
The Terps have completed nine of 15 spring workouts and have two scrimmages remaining, including the Red-White Spring game which is scheduled for Saturday, April 21 at 1 p.m. in Byrd. “When I look at the film I see guys improving,” Edsall said. “We’re just not as consistent as we need to be.”

On the injury front, the Terps did get some bad news, losing another defensive lineman. Joe Vellano, who was a second team All-American last season, will miss the rest of the spring with a foot injury. Ian Evans and Keith Bowers were ruled out of the remainder of spring practice in the first week.

Alex Twine returned to the field Saturday, but Cole Farrand remains out of action, Edsall said on his post-scrimmage report

Kerry Boykins missed the scrimmage after taking a shot to the head in practice.

Maryland’s offensive and defensive coordinators also broke down the scrimmage. Click here to listen to Brian Stewart and here for Mike Locksley

The Terps are back on the field Tuesday.

“This next week is going to be huge,” Edsall said. “There’s no more install. Now its a matter of let’s get good at the execution.”
