It is a talent deficit not just clutch hitting.
Other than catcher , yanks excel at all other 24 positions.
Can blame it on the Bossa Nova, or the systemic cause of MLB the only sport wout a salary cap.
$220 mill vs $80 mill.
Won’t cut it, covers up too many mistakes. Follow the money.
one key hit away a game from winning 2 out of 3. yes the o’s got swept but we are competitive and will get better. dylan bundy…pretty pretty good start..6 innings 0 hits 0 walks 12 k’s.. i can see machado playing in balt sometime next year maybe even when the season starts and bundy joining the team in aug of ’13. he has too much talent and maturity to stay in the minors very long. strange to say but with arreita, britton, hammel, hunter, chen, matusz and bundy..perhaps wada and tillman, the orioles will be overloaded with good starting pitching in the very near future. sign wieters and jones to long term deals. manny at short, move hardy to third…andino getting better everyday at second..find a good first baseman and a quality dh, along w/reimold and nick in the outfield and the sky is the limit. pretty young talented team. the holes in the team are filling up.
Fred, Tampa had one of top 3 picks 8 out of 10 years. That was the basis of their ascension.
O’s in spite of the haranguing were just not bad enough.
But they are on the rise, and are getting the pieces in place to start their turnaround.
Am just concerned that Buck will not stay long enough.
michael look how many top 4-8 picks the o’s had in the past 15 yrs. and how many misses. poor scouting for many yrs. but now you have wieters producing, manny machado will be up by next year. dylan bundy will be up by 2114 at the latest they have the # 4 pick this yr. they need to improve scouting and improve minor league coaching to develop talent. buck will stay as long as angelos lets duke do his job. of course that could be a big if.

marlins, too. 2 w.s. in last 15 years. you can do it if you have a good front office, good scouts and good minor league coaching.
