BALTIMORE, Md. – The University of Maryland Intercollegiate Athletics Department has partnered with the Y of Central Maryland to offer the first-ever “Y Sports Day with the Terps” on Sunday, April 29 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Family Center Y.
Terrapin student-athletes and members of the Maryland coaching staff will be on hand to offer free youth sports clinics.
Attendees will have the opportunity to choose four 30-minute sessions in the following activities: golf, gymnastics, field hockey, football, lacrosse, life skills, men’s and women’s basketball, soccer, strength and conditioning, volleyball and wrestling.
Individuals who participate in the clinic receive a special gift and four tickets to a 2012 Maryland football home game.
Members of the Maryland coaching staff scheduled to participate include: 2002 AP National Coach of the Year and 2006 national champion head women’s basketball coachBrenda Frese, nine-time national coach of the year and eight-time national champion head field hockey coach Missy Meharg, 2010 national coach of the year and national champion head women’s lacrosse coach Cathy Reese, head men’s lacrosse coach John Tillman, assistant head football coach Greg Gattuso, head volleyball coach Tim Horsmon, assistant gymnastics coach Erinn Dooley and assistant women’s golf coach Tiffany Prats.
Participants must be ages 5-18 to participate and are asked to arrive by 9:30 a.m. to sign in and select clinics. The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Family Center is located at 900 E. 33rd Street, Baltimore, MD 21218.
