Are you kidding me–Chris Davis pitched 2 scoreless innings after going 0-8 at bat. What? Buck Showaalter basically threw in the towel when he sent the first baseman out to pitch the bottom of the 16th of a 6-6 game. Only a great play by JJ Hardy and Wieters allowed the O’s to get to the 17th.
My only question was after the O’s scored 3 on Adan Jones 3 run HR —why not then bring in one of the starters to secure the win. Obviously Buck knows better as Davis pitched a scoreless 17th,in clouding a strikeout of Adrian Gonzalez to secure the win.
The O’s move to 19-9. Let me repeat that 19-9. 5 out of 6 on the road against the Yanks and Red Sox.

first to answer the question why not bring in a starter. you have 10 games in ten days coming up and you can’t disrupt the rotation or you’re going to cost your team several games. exactly why the red sox had to use mcdonald.
chris davis 0-8 5 strikeouts and hit into a d.p. and he is the hero. the last time someone went 0-8 and won a game was rube waddel of the cubs in 1905.
a note about andy macphail… he got adam jones for bedard, patton for miggie, andino for penn, hardy for jacobson and hoey..adam jones for bedard, strop-off waivers, davis and hunter for koji, reynolds for hernandez and signed buck….macphail didn’t do to badly.
