Quint Analyzes Maryland Lehigh from Inside Lacrosse
Maryland at No. 7 Lehigh

7:30 p.m. Sunday on ESPNU

If you like low-scoring defensive chess matches, this first-rounder may be for you. Lehigh (14-2) owns the No. 2 rated defense in the country. They slide to ball carriers the moment they step off the bus. Maryland ranks only 35th in assist ration; you must handle double teams to beat Lehigh.

The Mountain Hawks must stay out of the penalty box and handle their first trip to the NCAAs. Maryland (9-5) will respect Lehigh, having just lost to Colgate.

I like the Terps midfield defense led by Landon Carr and Jesse Bernhardt, but their close defense continues to be shredded by capable attack units. (Colgate, UVa, UNC). Can the Terps stop David DiMaria and Dante Fantoni? Maryland grinds opponents with extended possessions. They are an excellent groundball team.

The under/over for total stall warnings is 10. Both teams are below 50% at the face-off stripe. Maryland goalie Niko Amato must be a difference-maker for the Terps to advance.  from insidelacrosse.com

this could be the end of the road for the terps this year. the win at hopkins should have put this young team at a new level but it didn’t. tells me that game could have been an aberration. colgate beating maryland…should never happen.
