He’s only a sophomore, but Obi Enechionyia already is making a splash on campus at Saint James.
The 6-foot-8 forward-center enters tonight’s game against Maret School on a three-game streak of the unusual — a triple-double.
Enechionyia’s feat has come against Maryland School for Deaf (10 points, 17 rebounds, 12 blocks), St. Andrew’s (23 points, 15 rebounds, 12 blocks) and St. Mary Ryken (15 points, 15 rebounds, 10 blocks).
It’s no wonder the Saints won all three games to hike their record to 7-5.
Enechionyia is now averaging 13.6 points for the season after a slow start due to injury. Along with his brother, Nnamdi, who averages 15.7 points, the Enechionyias are producing nearly 40 percent of Saint James’ scoring.
“(Obi) is a competitor that plays both above and below the rim,” said Saints coach Paul Easton. “He has tremendous athletic ability.
