The Maryland field hockey team fell to the U.S. Under-21 Team, 4-3, Saturday in an exhibition match in College Park. The Terps held a 2-1 lead at the break, but couldn’t hold on for the win. Current Terrapins Maxine Fluharty, Katie Gerzabek, Ali McEvoy and Jill Witmer are all on the U.S. Under-21 team. Fluharty and Gerzabek played with Team USA. The Terps seized the opportunity to play with new schemes and lineups and test out different game plans. Today was very good for us,” head coach Missy Meharg said. “We’re working on a new system of play. We did pretty well with it at times, but it needs to become more consistent.” from umterps.com
