Maryland head men’s lacrosse coach John Tillman announced today that Ryan Moran has been promoted to associate head coach/offensive coordinator. A former Terrapin men’s lacrosse All-American, Moran is the program’s first-ever associate head coach and will begin his fifth season on the Maryland sideline this fall, having joined the staff as an assistant coach in the fall of 2008.
“Ryan has certainly earned this promotion,” said Tillman. “He’s continued to improve as a coach, expanded his responsibilities and has played a major role in Maryland’s success over the four years. He’s played a major role in our ever-improving recruiting, and has developed a greater understanding of all the different facets of being a head coach. He’s helped us reach Final Fours and win an ACC championship. The list of players he has helped develop is impressive and goes back to his time as an assistant at Navy.”
“I want to thank Coach Tillman for this great opportunity to take the next step in my coaching career,” said Moran. “I’m honored and humbled to be the first to have the title of associate head coach at the University of Maryland and am committed to continuing to work to make this the best men’s lacrosse program in the country. We have experienced tremendous success here over the past four seasons, but I believe there are bigger and better things to come in the future for Maryland lacrosse.”
