I lasted until the bottom of the 16th. Words can’t describe the improbability of this victory other then Buck pulled every card out of the deck and finally found the Ace when Taylor got the winning hit. The O’s were virtually stopped cold by Pedro Martinez—errrrrrr Erasmo Ramirez until the 9th when singles by Flaherty, Nate McLouth (who was 3-6 with 2 sacrifice bunts and a walk), a bunt by JJ and then a seeing eye gound ball single to tie the game by Chris Davis. Jake Arietta, Steve Johnson and Tommy Hunter pitched near flawlessly in relief of Chen.
Pedro Strop gave up a leadoff double and then worked his out of the jam with 2 strikeouts.
LJ Hoes never got in this game
The Orioles, especially Adam Jones, were completely blindsided by Ramirez and the Seattle staff only mustering 9 hits. The O’s swung at pitches that were unhittable and recorded 13 strikeouts.
Tampa, lost, Oakland lost but the red Angels blasted Ryan Dempster 13-3. So with 14 games leftthe O’s are tied for first with the Yanks, trail Oakland by a game for #1 wild card, are 3 games ahead of the Angels, and are now 6 games ahead of Tampa. Perhaps the best pitcher in the American League, Felix Hernandez faces the O’s tonight .

we almost won in the top of the 17th. first and third and one out but ford and q both lined out. good thing the game wasn’t the first of two. the seattle announcers were commenting that they thought the homeplate ump was calling his first ever game behind the plate. the game as so long fans with tickets for tonight’s game were coming into the park. ernie banks, the great cub was at the game and was heard saying after the game..let’s play 2. several of the m’s players hit ernie in the mouth and told him to shove it.
