Just another amazing win by the o’s–who have now passed Oakland in the Wild Card Lead position and remain 1 game behind the Yankees
The O’s dodged a bullet in the 10th as Pedro Strop got in trouble and eventually was bailed out by Luis Ayala
Buck commented that it was our defense that did the job tonight—a great catch by McLouth, one by Endy Chavez, 3 superb plays by Mark Reynolds, and a super double play in 11th that ended on a “Major League” catch at first by JJ, who recorded his 45th save
Joe Saunders pitched a strong 8 innings allowing only 1 run—The O’s went 4-2 on the road trip
The O’s are 85-64 with 13 games left—6 Red Sox 4 Toronto 3 Tampa

the o’s are a 1/2 game behind n.y. if the o’s are the “first’ wildcard team they play at home oct. 5th in the wildcard playoff one game series. if they win they play the next round that starts oct 6th at home. if the finish as the “2nd” wildcard trem the wild card one game series is on the road on the 5th. so if they finish 2nd they could have to play for example at oak or l.a. on fri the 5th and if they win fly 3,000 miles after the game and play on the 6th at home to start the next series.
