8 Inducted into Maryland’s HOF

Eight outstanding alumni were inducted into the Class of 2012 University of Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame on Friday evening at a ceremony at Riggs Alumni Center.

Men’s basketball player Juan Dixon, former coaches Tom Bradley (baseball) and Cindy Timchal (women’s lacrosse), football player Paul Vellano, field hockey player Carla Tagliente and women’s lacrosse players Jen Adams and Sarah Forbes were inducted. Longtime M Club fundraiser Leonard Rodman was inducted for meritorious service.

Some of the highlights:

Juan Dixon’s heartfelt mentioning the long hard road he had and of all of those who helped him.

Cindy Timchal inducing the throngs of Women’s Lax players in attendance to sing the Maryland fight song.

The film of Paul Vellano reminding everyone so much of his son Joe.

The many Terrapin athletes who showed up to honor their fellow Terps.

Johnny Holliday was the emcee to the surprise of no one. He starts his playoff work for the Nats Sunday.
