Senior Danielle Hubka scored in the fifth minute of the first overtime to send the No. 2-seeded University of Maryland women’s soccer team into the ACC tournament semifinals with a 2-1 victory over No. 7 seed Miami Sunday morning at Ludwig Field.
The win ups the Terps’ overall record to 12-5-1, while the Hurricanes fall to 9-7-3.
The game-winning goal was setup when sophomore Cory Ryan stole the ball from the Hurricane’s Ali Brennan in Miami’s defensive third of the field. Ryan then made a hard break to the end line and patiently waited for help. That help came in the form of Hubka, who raced into the 18-yard box and finished a perfectly played centering ball from Ryan with a hard shot into the top half of the Miami goal. from umterps.com
