This season, Kuntz stopped 95.7 percent of opponents’ shots for Garrison Forest (21-0), which won the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference title for the fifth time in six years.
Grizzlies co-coaches Traci Davis and Leigh McDonald Hall noted that opposing teams got off only 70 shots in 21 games and credited Kuntz’s verbal communication skills with the defenders in front of her for that statistic. Kuntz, who will play field hockey in college at Columbia University, praised her teammates’ defense.
“I always think it is better if my teammates know where opposing players are behind them,” Kuntz said. “But I had great defense in front of me. They worked as hard as they could. When it got past them, I just did what I needed to do.” from the baltimoresun.com
Kendall will continue her play at Columbia University of the Ivy League. Columbia is coached by former Maryland assistant Marybeth Freeman.
