Miami 54 Terps 47 —-Point Guard Woes Continue

One team last night shot 22-63 from the field, 5-20 from the 3 line, 5-13 from the free throw line——and they were the winners!!! It was one ugly game.

The difference was point guard play. The Terps had 4 assists and 15 turnovers and the  U had 15 assists and 8 turnovers.

Pe Shon and Seth Allen combined for 2-13 shooting, 4 points and 0 assists. Might we see Nick at the Point Wednesday night and Seth at the 2.

Maryland only scored 14 points in the firs half yet trailed by only 5.

Miami “announced” an attendance of 5809. I have been there and unless fans came dressed as empty seats 4000 seemed more like it

The most encouraging fact for me was that Turge didn’t seem that upset post game, hailing the defensive effort, rebounding and general hustle of the team. But…….what in the world happened to the offense.

I am not going to dwell on this game. Next up NC State, fresh off a victory over Duke, Wednesday night at Comcast. Hopefully a sold out house will lift the Terps out of their offensive doldrums

Worst college game I can remember.
It is time to start holding Turgeon to the fire.
He has had these guys for over 3 months, and they look totally uncoached.
There is absolutely no offensive rhythm and it is all one on one. There is no cohesion or teamwork.
The only good news is that Len is not close to NBA ready. Not even ACC ready.
Layman had a possibly career changing game against VT and has not been seen since?
Padgett is back to his sloppy old ways, totally over matched.
And Nick is unschooled and out of control.
    Where is the coaching up?
    This is beyond disappointing.
Dare I say I miss Gary, no not yet, or ever.

54-47. isn’t it time they put a shot clock in for college basketball. oh, wait. they do have a clock. yesterday afternoon down here in paradise it was sunny and 80. so turgeon took the team down to miami beach, actually on the beach, for the shoot-around. not one player could put the ball in the ocean. that’s how bad they shoot. 80 year men playing basketball at century village pass the ball better than md. poor spacing, poor ball movement. they play as if this is the first time they’ve been on the floor with one another. that’s on the coach. md has played 16 games and yet don’t have a set line up or anything close to a regular rotation. again i say put faust at point. layman at shooting guard and move dez to small forward. they were going to play cleare at center and len at pf but shaq has had muscle spasms. let len use his athleticism at forward. he is not a back to the basket player. did you see his dribble spin move last night. dreadful game. of course when you schedule every mickey mouse sister of the poor team for your early games i don’t know how you think you’re going to get your team prepared to play conference games and this isn’t a difficult conference top to bottom. if len is drafted early for the nba next year it will be by washington only because their gm has no clue. and if you think len could actually help an nba team next year, you have no clue. one day he’ll be good but it’s not happening that quickly, particularly if no one on md can get him the ball. pe’shon is lost and anyone who thinks seth allen can play point effectively must think the tea party’s approval rating is 80%. not even close.

The game was dreadful. As I see it–Faust just cant shoot —if he hits the rim its a miracle, Peshon is slow and not confident and needs to be benched. Faust should play point, and not shoot but slash. Len believes hes a lottery pick but seems overmatched at times , disintersted at times on offense, and has no stamina. This ream has so many problems Im not sure how to fix them.Pagett is yet another liability with inability to finish.

I wasn’t crazy about Faust at the point last year, but I see no alternative. Pishon, I mean Pe-shon is a lost soul. Can’t shoot, a turn over machine, and is a half a step slow on D. Other then that, he’ s great.

Padgett must have ballast weights in his shoes. His feet do not leave the ground. The reason he has good stats on offensive rebounds is because he misses all of his put backs. You can see it in his face when he tries to put it back up. He must have welts on his head from all the rejections put back in his face.

I think Layman has potential, but his game is toned down because of his role and that he’s a freshman.

Even Freddy from Boca had a tough freshman year. I remember him telling someone that Freshman year at Maryland were the best 2 1/2 years of his life.

to mike. on the contrary..no knock to the century village guys. not negative. those guys can execute. ok they don’t whip the ball around but they execute. last night izzy lefkowitz had 12 points and 10 assists but had to leave the game as his walker blew a tire.
