After the weak point guard play the last 3 halves of Terrapin basketball, are we pushing the panic button too quickly by moving Nick back to the point. I look back at the Virginia Tech game and just feel that Layman needs to be in the lineup. To me the best scoring 5 we could start right now would be Nick Layman Dez Shaq and Alex
14 points in a half is just not going to get any job done. The defense is there, the rebounding is there but the ball must periodically go through the nets. That is why I like Nick at the point. He is the guard we have that can create drives and finish. As he drives the middle perhaps the wings will open and there can’t be as much concentration on Dez. Alex seems to get his 10-15 points one way or another but attempts to get him the ball with his back to the hoop are not resulting in points. 4 assists and 16 turnovers can’t gat any worse. In fact the real bright side to the whole problem is the offense has reached the down level on the escalator.
My gut tells me that while Pe might not start at the point, he will still see significant minutes there but he must make a shot or two or he is rendered useless. A sellout crowd awaits Wednesday night. Look for a definite turnaround. After all this is the ACC.

While Nick has the talent, poor decision making precludes him from being MT’s coach on the court.
But he may not have any other option.
I am happy as long as Padgett is relegated to the bench, and Layman gets more than 20 minutes.
They need more discipline in passing the ball, and certainly in shot selection.
Waiting for them to be coached up, the clock is ticking….
