The No. 4 Maryland women’s lacrosse team wasted little time getting its offense rolling in a 20-7 victory at Richmond Sunday in the 2013 season opener.
Seniors Alex Aust and Katie Schwarzmann led Maryland, combining for 10 points on seven goals and three assists. Beth Glaros, Kristen Lamon, Mattie Meredith and freshmen Halle Majorana and Taylor Cummings each netted two goals. Cummings added five draw controls as five freshmen saw their first action in a Maryland uniform.
Schwarzmann kicked off the Terps’ scoring with a goal 19 seconds into the game. After Richmond knotted the game at 1-1 a minute later, Aust put the Terps up by one with a goal at 27:45. The senior then padded the Maryland lead to two with another score four minutes into the contest.
