Lacrosse, Basketball, and Baseball Victories on a Sunday Afternoon in College Park

Most of you probably thought it was a quiet Sunday in the sports world, but it’s never quiet at College Park.

I opened up at the Field Hockey Lacrosse Complex watching Alex Aust gather 9 points (4 goals and 5 assists) to help the Terps defeat a very talented Hofstra squad 16-11. McDonogh’s Taylor Cummings scored 3 goals for the Terps. Goalie Kasey Howard grabbed a dozen saves and probably was the difference in this game.

I then made the 300 yard walk to the Comcast Center and as I walked in and looked at the scoreboard the game was virtually over as Maryland led 21-6. The final score on Senior day for Tianna Hawkins was 88-61. The ACC is very top heavy with the top 4 teams –Duke Maryland, carolina, and FSU vastly superior to the bottom 8.

I got in my Koons Ford Escape and drove over to Bob Turtle Smith Stadium and watched the Terps win their 8th in a row, completing a 4 game sweep over Princeton 9-4. I was pleased to see Park School’s Ben Brewster pitch 2/3s of an inning to help preserve the victory.
