If Coach Turgeon and the team are excited about the NIT, then clearly I am as well. I will definitely be at Comcast Tuesday night and surely hope there is a decent crowd to support our guys.
The Big East received 8 tickets to the dance while the Big 10 garnered 7. The ACC had but 4. What has happened to the ACC?
Tickets for the first round are available for $25 to the general public. Students can reserve a free ticket through their online account at www.tickets.umd.edu. Guest tickets will be available for $4. Click here to purchase tickets.
I was on the teleconference with Coach Turgeon on Sunday night. Here are a few of his comments:
(When asked if 2 home games could be squeezed in because of the Women’s tournament at Comcast)
“If we’re lucky enough to win our first one we would definitely host a second one. “
(I asked him what he knew about Niagara)
“I don’t know anything. I just know they won their league. Very well-coached. Joe (Mihalick) does a great job. I’ve watched his program over the years from afar and I’ve always respected him. I know they’ll have some toughness to them. I’m sure they’ll be a small team, four guards most likely is what I’m guessing.”
“We were so down in the locker room after the (UNC) game, and you start talking. We didn’t come out and say we’re going to be an NIT team but we did say, hey, if we’re in it, we’re going to have both feet in and we’re going to do the best we can. I think with a young team, they’re excited about being a part of the tournament.”

I am getting setup for Tuesday – excited for the game, trying to get other Terps to go to game. Nice to get one more (at least) home game.
