The fourth-seeded Maryland women’s basketball team hung with top-seeded Connecticut early, but a spurt to start the second half put the Huskies in front to advance to the Elite Eight, 76-50.
Alyssa Thomas had 13 points and nine rebounds to lead Maryland (26-8). Tianna Hawkinsand Chloe Pavlech each had 11 points for the Terps. Alicia DeVaughn added 11 rebounds with nine points.
Superior depth and defense troubled the Terps all game. Looking back over the season, the Coaching staff did a tremendous job after 4 significant players went down with injuries. With a top 5 recuiting class arriving, the Terps will be a pre-season final four favorite.
