O’s Squander a 4-0 Lead—But Get off the Canvas to Win 5-4—-Freddy Garcia Turns in a Superb Effort

What an utterly gorgeous day in Anaheim. Great representation by O’s fans led by about 100 fans in Center Field from the West Wing.

Freddy Garcia toyed with a no hitter keeping the potent Angel lineup hit less through 6 innings.

Manny, JJ Hardy, and Reimhold went deep but all were solo shots. with a few timel hits especially by Nate McClouth this game never would have been close.

Tommy Hunter stepped into Pedro Strop’s role and pitched a scoreless 9th to get the game into extra innings. Steve Pearce drove home the winning run in the 10th and JJ closed the game for his 11th save. Good teams win games like this so hats off to the O’s.

But the best news of the day was the great performance of Garcia who will get his 2nd start Friday night in Minnesota.

the angels potent offense is potent on paper but has been dismal all season.

The Angels will eventually make their run, but in a very tough division, most likely will fall far short. So much talent and a very good manager.
Hopefully, austerity while not working internationally, will arrive in baseball. Or a reasonable semblance thereof.

i’m not so sure they a going to make run, mike. they lack starting pitching and their bullpen isn’t that strong. hamilton did not hit well in the last couple months of last year and this trend has continued this year. i don’t think this team is put together as the manager would like it. i think the owner was too involved in player acquisition.
