It was the 2nd game of a Sunday doubleheader May 8th, 1966 and I was at the game with my buddy Charles “Rocky” Martinez. Luis Tiant was on the mound and Frank pulled a ball down the left field foul line. We were sitting between home and first in the lower box. We both thought that the ball had gotten out of the stadium. No one to my knowledge ever came close either before or after. Remember there was no video board. I believe many an inning or two later the announcement was made that Frank’s ball had traveled 451 feet in the air.

definelty under-rated compared to mays, aaron, mantle. had great throwing arm but injury to his arm in cinc. compromised his arm strength. had everything you want in a player. power, hit for average, defense, leadership and take no prisoners attitude. frank was the straw to stir the drink in balto. and the last great judge of the kangaroo court. here come da judge, here come da judge.
