Chaf Ford from espn.com Sees Alex Going to the Wizards
#8

Alex Len

Height: 7-1 | Weight: 225 | Sophomore

Maryland | Center

Len is a big, traditional center who can score in the paint or step outside and hit a jumper. He’s still a work in progress; he needs guards who can get him the ball in the right position to score. But he moves very well for his size and is a good rebounder and shot-blocker. Some scouts compare him to a young Zydrunas Ilgauskas.

If he goes to the Wiz he will have a short NBA career. The wizards are one of the worst ran teams in professional sports.Bums

spot on and drafting len would be consistent to the dumb things the wiz do. last year’s first round pick was pretty good but overall the wiz draft poorly. singleton, booker, vesely..bad picks. i still find it hard to believe so many “experts” consider len a true center. comparing him to “z”. why because both are from eastern europe and both are tall. len was a forward before coming to md. he made some nice improvements from yr 1 to yr 2 but he’s no true center. and if len didn’t go to md a lot of fans in this area would be saying how can you like a guy who you say is so talented and has such great size and athletic ability and yet his play is so inconsistent. shouldn’t someone who has all this talent and size been more of a dominate player game in and game out rahter than a game here and there. i wish len nothing but the best. a long prosperous successful career but i don’t seeit. maybe if he had come back to school and was allowed to play his natural power foreard position and refined his skills and gain more strength i would be more inclined to think he had a better chance of success. and i understand leaving early because the nba is what it is and you don’t leave a couple million on the table particularly when you are a question mark like len is. truthfully, as a college center lonnie baxter was far superior than len as a college center. i’m not talking about potential as an nba player just as college centers. but good luck to len and good luck to the nba gm who drafts him.

This draft as well as the NFL recent draft are considered the weakest in years.
The reason seems to be the early entries allowed by both leagues.
With so few major talents remaining in school and developing their skills, we now have mostly early exits as predominate lottery picks.
Len just represents this horrid phenominom.
He is lacking fire and passion. Both necessary to survive and flourish in the NBA.
The Wiz, which I feel are improving steadily, with the significant backcourt of Beal and John Wall to build around.
And yes their drafting futility is a major detraction, with Beal and Wall being no brainer choices.
I see Len as just another Euro big supplemental player, but no difference maker or elite potential.
But running towards the money is the prescribed path in all aspects of life today.
