Former NFL player O.J. Brigance and former Boston College baseball player Peter Frates joined the Maryland baseball team and Boston College as honorary captains for Thursday night’s game between the Terps and Eagles at Bob “Turtle” Smith Stadium.
During warm ups, both teams wore Brigance Brigade t-shirts to show their support for Brigance’s organization, which strives to improve the quality of life of ALS patients and their families.
In addition, prior to first pitch, Brigance and Frates exchanged lineup cards alongside Terrapin head coach John Szefc and BC head coach Mike Gambino.
“It was great for the team to be involved with an event like this,” said head coach John Szefc. “Thousands of people are diagnosed with the disease every year. Through events like these, we are able to raise awareness, which is important.
