Despite Tiger’s Meltdown, Team Foley Comes on Top with Justin Rose Taking the US Open
When was talking to PGA Pro Pat Coyner on the Sports Maven, I mentioned that Justin Rose always seems t obe in the hunt in the majors. This victory was bound to happen but occurred because of Rose’s great play on 17 and 18.For the 8th time in his career Lefty finished 2nd in a major.
remember when rory mcalroy was the newest great player. well he’s 0 for 2013 with is best showing being tied for 8th at the route 40 putt putt where he had 2 balls stuck under the windmill. if, and that’s becoming a big if, if tiger can win a major he’ll dominate golf again. he’s still the only player with 4 wins this year. no one else has more than 2.
No one person is going to dominate again. The quality and quantity of players is so much better than ever.
They can all hit it as far and consistently as Tiger, and they all have all of the shots. And there are waves of newbies on the way.
Tiger can now shine for a round or 2, but inevitably his putting, or short game fail him.
He will win, and even a major or 2, but domination is off the board.
The only thing that Tiger possesses that is still in short supply so far, is his drive which is undiminished by the money.
I think Rory will get it together again for a while, but the quick riches dull the drive to win for so many.
