31,00 Watch O’s End Losing Streak at 4–Defeat the Rockies 8-4 in a 3:24 marathon

Wow it was a long night at the yards. Fortunately the weather was great and victory was achieved. The 2 teams combined to leave 23 men on base. O’s SP Bud Norris weaved his way in and out of trouble to record his 4th win as a Bird.

The bullpen was excellent tonight–shutting down the Rockies in the final 3 1/3  innings with 0 runs 3k’s and 1 walk

norris didn’t pitch well at all. 95 pitches 4 runs 9 hits in 5.2 i don’t know how guys get paid millions for results like that. for anyone who listened to the sports maven yesterday and heard bruce and stan basically start putting nails in the o’s coffin. they made it sound like the o’s were 7 behind with 8 to play. if you buy into that you have no real idea how baseball works. i don’t deny you may be long time, passionate fans but most fans really don’t know the nuances of the game really well, though they may think they do. some people in the media are in the same boat. because you watch a game for years doesn’t mean you really know the game. there’s 6 weeks left in the season and if you were to take a look at the standings you’d see the orioles are very much in the hunt. they are 3 behind oak, 4 in the loss col. behind the rays and boston so they need to make up less than one game a week. and there is a real possibility they can make up all the ground in a week or less. despite not playing well have you noticed none of the teams ahead of the o’s have distanced themselves to any real extent. they play baseball every day meaning in 3 or 4 days things can change a great deal. tampa has lost 6 out of 8, boston isn’t tearing up the league. oakland is playing inconsistent. this isn’t football where you only play 16 games a year and play once a week. go back a couple of years and look how st. louis came late to win the pennant and the world series. if you’re old enough go back to 1964 when the phils had a 6.5 game lead with 10 to go and finished in 3rd place as both the dodgers and cards passed them in the last week of the season. look how the red sox went from first to out of the picture a couple of years ago. most fans start to freak everytime their is a loss. this needs to change. this guy needs to be fired. baseball is like the weather. things change quickly. sometimes it’s raining but a minute later the sun is out. unless you live in seattle. in that case take an umbrella. there may be only about 40 games to go but there is a lot of time left in the season.
