Rehabilitation from major surgery is often a game of hurry up and wait. The mind may be prepared to start a comeback from an injury, but the body has to a willing partner.
The case of Robert Griffin III in the 2013 preseason is a bit different. He seems to believe he can play. His coaches, understandably, see no reason to put him on the field before the Washington Redskins open up on Monday Night Football against the Philadelphia Eagles. It’s not hurry up and wait; it’s wait, wait, wait and then wait some more.
That’s why RG3 has a new credo for the preseason. Gone is the “all in for Week 1″ motto he was sporting immediately after his knee surgery, when such a pronouncement seemed optimistic. Now RG3 is going with “Operation Patience.” He wore a shirt emblazoned with the phrase before Washington’s preseason home opener on Monday.
