Three recruiting classes ago, the University of Maryland received a commitment from a hulking offensive tackle out of nearby Friendship Collegiate Academy in Washington, D.C. But for various reasons, Larry Mazyck never made it to College Park.

Now, three years and three different schools later, Mazyck will, barring any snags, finally become a Terp. He committed to Maryland Aug. 25, one day after receiving the formal offer, and plans to enroll in January. Once he arrives, he said he will have two years of eligibility remaining.
“Maryland is where I always wanted to be,” said the 6-foot-8, 340-pound Mazyck, who is currently in his second year at Iowa Western Community College, the same program that produced Terps five-star receiver Deon Long. “I’ve been trying to get there for a long, long time. So to finally have this happen, I’m excited.”
