2nd Guessing Time as Ravens Fall to Green Bay 19-17

Some random comments about John Harbaugh’s 1st Loss to a NFC Squad at the Bank:

Play calling in the 1st half was abysmal. I understand the need to run the ball but when you have 11 rushes for 12 yards and your leading ball carrier is Joe Flacco with 6 yards, there is a serious problem. Rice up the middle, Rice off tackle–it never worked.

I don’t have trouble with going for the TD on 4th and 1 but to run 4 plays from the 4 and not even get close to scoring is pathetic.

Torrey Smith targeted 3 times all game? However he was clearly double teamed whcih left the other receivers available and Joe evetually go the ball to Doss, Brown, Jacobi, and Clark. Dallas Clarke is certainly coming around. Jacobi clearly played with tremendous passion coming back after his injury. Good move!!!!

The failure to try an onsides kick was a mistake in judgment –here’s why. The Ravens trailed by 2 but had 3 timeouts left. Conventional wisdom might say let Tucker kick it through the end zone and then hold and get get the ball back for a final drive. But by not trying the onsides you deprive yourself of an extra shot to get the ball. You can still hold to a 3 and out and get the ball. Also, Rodgers had figured out how to move the chains by then.

Joe Flacco was 18-34 for 320 yards and 2 TDs.

Ready for this—the 1-4 Steelers are faovorite over the Ravens next Sunday.

I guess 3-3 isn’t the end of the world at this point in the season.Out toughest NFC game and parity game are behind us –both losses.

Around the NFL

Tom Brady was absolutely incredible leading the Pats to victory over the Saints.

The Chiefs remain undefeated , defeating the raiders 24-7

The Bengals defeated Buffalo 27-24 in OT and the Browns lost 31-17
