The Maryland men’s basketball team held an open practice Saturday morning at Comcast Center as the Red team defeated the Black team, 38-36, in a 20-minute scrimmage.
Jake Layman (Red) and Dez Wells (Black) were the leading scorers with 14 points apiece, while Nick Faust (Red) and Evan Smotrycz (Black) chipped in 12 points each. Smotrycz also had five rebounds in the effort.
“Coach Turgeon has talked about doing your part on offense and executing the play,” said assistant coach Scott Spinelli. “We did a good job of communicating on defense and have improved over the last two days. There were so many positive moments – we showed some good flashes and versatility and we just have to move forward and build on today’s practice.”
