Women’s Soccer Team Defeats Canes 1-0 in Coral Gables

Sophomore Ashley Spivey scored the game’s lone goal in the 56th minute was the difference as the University of Maryland women’s soccer team pulled out its first-ever win at Miami Thursday night at Cobb Stadium.

The Terrapins move to 8-7-0 for the season and are now 4-5-0 in ACC play. The loss drops the Hurricanes to 8-6-0 overall and 3-6-0 in the conference.

“Great win on the road tonight for our group,” said Maryland head coach Jonathan Morgan. “I’m very pleased with the way we took care of the ball in our possession and I’m especially pleased with our team defending. We did a good job of keeping the ball in front of us and not allowing Miami a clean look at the goal through the run of play.”
