Thursday Night Games from The Sports Network

Mississippi State* over Kentucky  (Thursday)

This should be interesting. Effective this week, vendors will sell beer at MSU’s Davis-Wade Stadium. That should make the cowbells even louder, but Kentucky is familiar with adversity coming off a stretch of four straight vs. Top 20 teams. MISSISSIPPI STATE 33-21.

Marshall over Mid Tennessee State* (Thursday)

MTSU has had difficulty stretching the field and played poorly in their last out- ing, surrendering 303 rushing yards in a 34-7 setback at North Texas. But mid- week night games favor the host and Marshall often plays down to their level of competition. MARSHALL 34-24.

Carolina over *Tampa Bay  (Thursday)

The Panthers have posted consecutive victories for the first time this season behind one of the better defensive front sevens in football and with Cam Newton going a combined 35-for-43 for 464 yards and four touchdown passes with no intercep- tions. Carolina has outscored Minnesota and St. Louis, 65-30, the past two weeks. Tampa Bay ranks 31st in points per game at 14.5 and yards per contest at 297.8. The Bucs could be minus tailback Doug Martin (check status). But Mike Glennon is improving, the winless Bucs are desperate and get a rare nationally televised home game. Tampa Bay has yet to surrender a touchdown on the ground to a run- ning back. CAROLINA 23-17.
