“But I’m not joining Maryland to win every game,”I’m joining them to stay home and to fight for my state. That was the main thing for me.” —-EJ Donahue 2015 Commit to Maryland

Late during the third quarter of Maryland’s Oct. 26 bout against Clemson, Frederick (Md.) Linganore junior offensive tackleĀ EJ Donahuegot what recruits often refer to as “that feeling.” Standing on the sidelines at Byrd Stadium for the umpteenth time, watching as the depleted Terps fought the favored Tigers tooth and nail, listening as 48,000-plus red-and-white clad fans urged the home team on, Donahue decided he wanted to spend his college years in College Park.

The 6-foot-5, 330-pound blindside blocker took a breath and sent off a brief text to his mother that simply read, “I’m going to do it. I’m ready to commit.”

“I was talking to my mom before I went down for the game and I said, ‘I really just don’t feel like waiting any longer. I just love it down there,'” Donahue said. “Then I texted her and I texted my coach [Rick Conner], and they both wished me luck. … I just know in my heart Maryland is the right place for me.”

Wish we had more men like EJ that were loyal to their home state. Our offense should be great going forward when you can get linemen of his quality.
