Ravens Cut Michael Huff, Marcus Spears–Sign Omar Brown and Brynden Trawick—from MASN.com

The Ravens made a couple of surprising roster moves this morning, cutting a pair of veterans, safety Michael Huff and defensive end Marcus Spears.

Baltimore signed safeties Omar Brown and Brynden Trawick from the practice squad to take the open spots on the 53-man roster. The team also signed wideout Kamar Aiken and quarterback Nick Stephens to the practice squad.

Huff, 30, signed with the Ravens in the offseason to help offset the loss of Ed Reed. He never quite made an impact, recording just six tackles and no passes defensed in seven games (one start). Huff spent his first seven seasons with the Raiders.

Spears, 30, made 10 tackles in five games (one start). His departure is maybe more of a shock considering the lingering ailments dogging defensive linemen Chris Canty and Haloti Ngata. Spears was in his first season with Baltimore after eight years with Dallas.

My take —this really makes the jettisoning of Anquan look ridiculous
