McDonogh’s Josh Woods Commits to Maryland–from Rivals.com

Owings Mills (Md.) McDonogh cornerback Josh Woods committed to Randy Edsall and the Terps this morning.

Woods, who plays both defensive back and wide receiver for McDonogh, visited Maryland’s campus for an unofficial visit on Nov. 14, picking up an offer at that time. Just a day later, Woods also received a scholarship offer from the University of Virginia.

However, the more he thought about what each school has to offer, it was Maryland’s academics that played a major part in his decision to end everything and not wait for any additional scholarship opportunities.

“Maryland has a pretty good communications program, a pretty good broadcasting program,” Woods said. “Virginia didn’t really have exactly what I was looking for, so that played a big part because at the end of the day, it’s about academics more than anything.
