The University of Maryland has been selected to host the 2014 Division I NCAA Field Hockey Championship, which will be held Nov. 21 & 23, 2014, at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.
The 2014 NCAA Field Hockey Championship will mark the third time that Maryland has played host to the event, having done so in 2007 and in 2010. In 2010, the Terrapins won the program’s seventh NCAA title with a 3-2 double overtime win over No. 2 North Carolina and set the NCAA attendance record with 2,381 fans at that game.
“What an honor this is for the entire University of Maryland community,” head coach Missy Meharg said. “We sincerely appreciate the Maryland department of athletics for its commitment to NCAA Division I field hockey. This selection brings back exciting memories of past championships in College Park. The Mid Atlantic region is deeply passionate about its field hockey and this bid is a testament to their knowledge and support of the game. We have the best fans in the nation and can’t wait to welcome the country to our Complex once again.”
