To any football, baseball, basketball, etc player, it is inconceivable to believe that playing with that knee brace that Joe wore was not a major factor in his erratic performance last Sunday against the Patriots. It just seemed like he was in physical and mental confusion adjusting to the brace and the condition of his knee. Next season it is imperative that the Ravens find a journeyman QB who could step into the role if the need arises. Tyrod just doesn’t have the experience yet.
This year the role of the backup was accentuated and there were several guys out there who can fill the need. It is imperative that the backup has had playing time in the NFL including that of a starter. Here are some of the backups in the NFL today.
Kyle Orton who might start for the Cowboys this weekend
Jason Campbell who defeated the Ravens this year
Josh McCown who defeated the Ravens this year
Shaun Hill the great Maryland QB now on the Lions
Matt Cassell
Don’t forget Nick Foles started the tear as a backup
Colt McCoy
Ryan Fitzpatrick
Kevin Kolb
Brady Quinn
If the Ravens really have confidence in Tyrod then play him. Can the Ravens win the most important game of the year with #5 hobbling around unable to roll out, unsure of every step. I hope so but I really doubt it.
